Introducing Reverend Scott Castello

By: Administrator,

Reverend Robert “Scott” Castello comes to Good Shepherd Hospital from Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he served for five years as a staff chaplain. Chaplain Scott’s primary unit of focus at Condell-a Level I Trauma Center-was the emergency department where he ministered to patients, families and staff in a highly intense environment.

Prior to serving as a chaplain, Reverend Scott served as a senior pastor of a Lutheran church in the Northwest suburbs. He is ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America-ELCA. Chaplain Scott has bachelor degrees in journalism and mechanical engineering as well as a Master of Divinity Degree from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.

Here at Good Shepherd Hospital, Chaplain Scott will serve as the Senior Staff Chaplain and his primary unit of care will be the Cardiovascular ICU. He will also be the primary point of contact for ethical cases. In addition, he will serve on ethics committees at three hospitals: Good Shepherd, Condell and Sherman, as well as contributing to the Ethics Integration Committee at Advocate Health Care Corporate offices. Finally, Chaplain Scott is planning on pursuing a Graduate degree in Medical Bioethics.

Chaplain Scott enjoys being with family and friends and is an avid Chicago Blackhawks fan. He has one son who is in the Navy and is stationed in Jacksonville, Florida. His son, Brandon, is married to Nicole and they have three dogs-no children yet. They are coming home for the holidays and that makes the season extra special for him and his wife Laurie.
