Camp Bear Hugs, a grief camp for children, is a compelling example of how Advocate Hospice’s bereavement team fulfills its commitment to those left behind after the death of a loved one.

On August 9 and 10, 2019, Camp Bear Hugs will be held for the seventh consecutive year, providing children who have experienced a loss with a safe, supportive and fun-filled environment.

Held over two days at the Hanson Center in Burr Ridge, Illinois (half a day on Friday, all day Saturday), the Camp features an array of activities, including games, face-painting, horseback riding and feeding animals in the petting zoo.

Highlights also include the activity that lends its name to the camp itself. In the Bear Hugs memory bear activity, children assemble a bear using material belonging to their loved one.
